What to ExpectThe Managing Compliance Counsel, APAC, will be a key member of the Global Compliance team in Tesla’s Legal organization. The attorney in this role, based in Singapore, will help Tesla comply with local laws, regulations, and Tesla’s internal policies and procedures, support Tesla’s compliance culture, andensure that Tesla employees conduct business in an ethical manner. Success in this role requires agility, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, excellent judgment, and great collaboration and communication skills. This rolewill report to Tesla’s Director of Global Compliance.
What You’ll Do
- Identify areas of potential compliance risk, and develop policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate those risks
- Conduct internal investigations, as needed, of potential violations of law or Tesla policy
- Develop remediation plans based on investigative findings, and work with the business and other internal stakeholders to ensure that those plans are executed
- Support third-party supplier screenings to identify and mitigate compliance risks
- Develop compliance training plans, and develop and deliver compliance training programs
- Act as a trusted advisor to Tesla’s business and functional leaders across the APAC region (including Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korean, Taiwan, and Thailand) on regulatory and compliance issues
- Conduct periodic assessments ofcompliance risk in APAC and build programs to mitigate those risks.
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments to identify the potential impact to Tesla’s APAC business.
- Update legal and compliance department colleagues on developments regarding significant or emerging legal and compliance risks.
What You’ll Bring
- Qualification as legal counsel
- 10+ years of work experience in the field of corporate compliance, including experience with risk assessments, policies and procedures, training and communications, investigations and remediation, and controls and monitoring.
- Thorough knowledge and experience advising business leaders on compliance topics FCPA/anti-corruption, conflicts of interest,and accuracy of business records, along with a solid working knowledge of PRClaws in these areas.
- Ability to work well both autonomously and collaboratively, and effectively manage and prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to develop strong working relationships and build influence across Tesla’s geographically-dispersed APAC business.
